NOTICE: SEVERE WEATHER CLOSINGS

CARL will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday 1 Feb. We will open on a 2 hour delay on Wednesday, opening at 0900. WEDNESDAY STORY TIME IS CANCELED.

From the notice:

Due to expected severe winter weather and dangerous road conditions Tuesday
through Wednesday, Fort Leavenworth will implement a cancellation/closure of
offices Tuesday all day and a delayed report Wednesday 2 Feb for
non-emergency essential personnel IAW CAC and FT Leavenworth Reg 690-5. The
Chain of Command ultimately determines who and what emergency essential is
and if people should report 1 Feb or when people should report Feb. 2.

Grant and Hancock gates will operate Normal hours. Sherman Gate will be
Closed 1 Feb but will open 2 Feb from 0830 - 1030.

All DFMWR activities except Child Development Centers will be closed 1 Feb.
The CDC will be open 1 Feb at normal hours to support Emergency Essential
personnel with all services for child care being at the CDC.

The PX, Commissary and Shoppette will close at normal hours 31 Jan.
Soldiers, DA Civilians and Family members are reminded to have their
Emergency supplies to include medicines at home as weather conditions could
potentially prevent outside movement through Thursday.  Pharmacy is open
until 1800 today.  The PX, Commissary and Shoppette will be closed 1 Feb all
day.

Due to expected overnight conditions Tuesday, the Installation will have a
2-hour delay in reporting for non-emergency essential personnel Wednesday
morning. All DFMWR facilities except the CDC will open on a 2 hr delay. The
CDC will open at normal time.

Individuals should seek guidance from their chain of command. The Railroad
crossings to Sherman Army Airfield will not be opened until 0815 Wednesday 2
Feb.  The Shoppette and PX will open by 0900 Wednesday 2 Feb.

Any changes to this information will be disseminated through the chain of
command using Dialogic and the Installation Alert rosters.

Patrons should use extreme caution when travelling and are encouraged to
commute only if necessary. The National Weather Service warns of
'near-blizzard conditions' and 'the strong winds may also lead to power
outages, which could produce impacts long after the snow has ended as
temperatures fall to below zero by Wednesday morning.'
