3. Catalog Plug-in for IE7 and Firefox browsers
If you're using
Firefox 2.0 or
Internet Explorer 7.0 you're probably familiar with the small browser window in the upper right-hand corner of your screen. The default search engine is either Google or Yahoo. In addition to these you can now add CARL research tools such as our online catalog search to your array of ready search engines on your IE 7 or Firefox 2.0 browser.
What does it do?
The plugin allows you to instantly search for example our online catalog by selecting CARL Catalog from the dropdown box and entering a search term in the search box. See image>>>
On this Web page just hit the drop-down menu next to the search box in your browser window
and you can add our CARL Catalog, CARL Digital Library, Praeger Security International or JSTOR search engines to your Firefox or IE 7 browser. This will allow you to
search our library resources directly from your browser's search box.
4. Bookmarklet for Firefox and Netscape browsers
What is a "bookmarklet"?
This bookmarklet allow you to search the library catalog for words you highlight on a Web page.
How do I use bookmarklets?
First you must add the bookmarklet:
a. Just drag the blue link below up into your personal toolbar (or Add it to your Bookmarks or Favorites) -
Find Books @ CARL
Next, simply highlight words (keywords, book title, author, ISBN, etc.)
on any Web page using your mouse. Then open the Favorites, Links or Bookmarks menu on your browser's toolbar and click on your Find Books @ CARL link.
The terms you highlighted will then be searched in the library catalog.
